Cultural Mecca of Chile
This is a quite old video shot in 2006 but just edited recently.
Valparaiso is 70 kms north of the the capital, Santiago. it's a world Heritage site for good reason-it's sheer beauty.
At the llevel of the sea, you won't find much to write home about. It's charm resides entirely in the Old Town perched high above the port. Valparaiso was an improtant port particularly before the Panama Canal was built.
There you can see street upon street filled with individually painted houses, garages even cars. It seems to be colour mad.
The greatest thrill we found was travelling up and down the steep funiculars. Valparaiso was our favourite city in Chile.
