Get off the Tour Bus: Wandering in Japan

So the huge problem about sticking to the tour bus is that you tend to spend most of your time with people just like you.

Sure the tour guide is probably Japanese but he speaks perfect English.

So there is not the insecurity and pleasure of not being able to express yourself  in a foreign language. I say pleasure because you are actually risking yourself when you try to communicate with limited language, pointing, gestures and mime.

I believe that risk or at least uncertainty is the essence of travel outside your zone.
